AIR QUALITY GUIDE FOR OZONE

During ozone season, which runs from April 1st through September 30th, meteorologists use the color-coded chart below to forecast air quality. Called the AQI (air quality guide), the chart indicates the ozone levels and the health impacts of each.

Health Impact

Good

0-50

No health impacts are anticipated on green days.

Moderate

51-100

People sensitive poor air should limit their time outdoors.

Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups

101-150

Air Quality Alert: The air is forecasted to be unhealthy for outdoor activities. Elderly, children and those with respiratory problems should stay indoors.

Unhealthy

151-200

Air Quality Alert: Everyone should limit outdoor activities.

Very Unhealthy

201-300

Air Quality Alert: Everyone should stay indoors.

 

Air Quality Forecast Sources:

You will see or hear the air quality forecasts from the local media on Air Quality Alert Days. You will also see alert messages on the highway message boards.
